I have been drawing all my life. This is me aged seven trying out my Mum’s lipstick and clothes.
There is however nothing childish about being a children’s illustrator. Children are the most critical of audiences. You have to understand all the elements required - humour, colours, layout, composition, learning, line, tone, texture, balance… and on and on.
I have created illustrations for publishers including Ladybird, Hodder & Stoughton and Gomer.
It takes only 3 years to become a child but it can take a lifetime to become a children’s illustrator.
